About this workshop

The Negotiation Game drops participants into realistic scenarios where they must negotiate outcomes with competing interests. Through multiple rounds, they discover their natural style, learn proven techniques, and build confidence for real-world negotiations.

Whether negotiating with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders, participants leave with practical tools they can use immediately.

What participants will learn

The knowledge and understanding they'll gain:

  • The difference between positional and interest-based negotiation
  • How to identify what the other party really wants (beyond their stated position)
  • Why preparation is 90% of negotiation success
  • Common negotiation tactics and how to respond to them

What they'll be able to do afterwards

The skills and behaviours they'll take away:

  • Prepare for negotiations systematically using a clear framework
  • Find win-win solutions that create value for both parties
  • Stay calm and focused when conversations get difficult
  • Recognise and counter manipulation tactics
  • Close negotiations with clear agreements and maintained relationships

How it works

Participants are assigned roles and given confidential briefings with different objectives. They negotiate through several rounds, each introducing new complexity. Between rounds, facilitators introduce frameworks and the group reflects on what worked.

The final debrief reveals the "behind the scenes" of each negotiation—what could have been achieved, what was left on the table, and why.
